In my list of most underrated records of all time, Celebrations For a Grey Day is at or near the top. As are the books Positively 4th Street and Been Down So Long It Looks Like Up To Me, Richard Farina was a life cut way too short, and the relatively little output we have is universally interesting, albeit too little.
Mimi & Richard Farina - V.
Yesterday I deleted all the music off my phone. I’m starting over, one album at a time, commute by commute.
Newspeedwayboogie proposed “anything by Richard Farina” as a starting point, and I’m glad I followed his advice. I hadn’t listened to Celebrations For a Grey Day in years, and holy hell is it a wonderful record. I’m going with it again for the trip back into work as a matter of fact.
