1. Rather than a linear battering ram for the delivery of ‘Eat The Rich’-esque sloganeering, the Minutemen also took punk to mean a florid, omnidirectional expression of self: an infinitely more political act than the aggro content that defined trad hardcore. Artistic expression was a Marxist right, and “a way to learn about the beauty of the world” as Boon asserted in Minutemen documentary, We Jam Econo.
