hair-raising to say the least . . this is classic

machinetext:

This might be my favorite song. Greg Oblivian lays down one of the greatest vocals ever - epic, heroic, tragic. The crescendo he builds to in the first chorus is hair-raising - an absolutely awesome, throat-shredding performance verging on self-sacrificial - you wonder how he ever sang again. The guitar is an almost undifferentiated  background haze, barely emerging leading up to the chorus. The dirty production evokes low haunts, dive bars - nobody’s even listening to his last scream. One of the few songs (if not the only) which, when it’s finished, I immediately play it again.
