Ivan has been touting Squarepusher to me lately, it freaks me out (in a good way)
This is Squarepusher’s “Hello Meow” off the album Hello Everything. Hello Everything is the best album to buy if you’ve never heard Squarepusher (the band is really just one guy: Tom Jenkinson) before and enjoy this song because Hello Everything as the perfect summary album for Tom’s entire career. This song “Hello Meow” is closer to Tom’s earlier works, such as hard normal daddy. But, there’s some stuff on this album that really innovates beyond anything Tom has ever done before, so it’s not all just a big summary.
When I listen to Squarepusher, I think of Jazz, but I suspect that Jazz purists (those that couldn’t get past Bitches Brew) would strongly disagree, and I see their point.
